The Weekly: Juneteenth 2025 in the DMV
11 Juneteenth events in the DC area. PLUS: 6.5 hours in Baltimore. Talia's Coloring Corner returns tonight, no Talia Talk Tuesdays and Talia's Book Nook this week, and 14 Step ZADDY romance book recs.
Happy Monday!
Hope you had a great weekend. I wanted to avoid the circus in DC, so I had every intention of being IN the house and minding MY business.
However, FOMO won on Saturday afternoon. Some of my girlfriends were planning to meet up in Baltimore for drinks. Around 2:30pm I realized that I haven’t gotten much done for the day, and I really wasn’t about to get anything done that evening.
Restaurant hopping in Baltimore’s Hampden neighborhood with the girls was fun. First, we got cocktails and snacks at The Bluebird. The literary-inspired bar is very moody (think: dark academia) and great for date night. PRO TIP: Don’t wear a white denim dress. A server might spill a French 75 all over you. Ask me how I know.
Next, we walked over to The Urban Oyster. It’s the nation’s ONLY Black woman-owned oyster bar, and I’ve been wanting to go here for a minute. Very very very cute. According to my raw oyster eating friends, the raw oysters were good. The chargrilled oyster were OK. I’m ready for the real thing in New Orleans in two-ish weeks. Catfish nuggets were GREAT!
We ended our night at The Food Market. Very bustling for a Saturday night. I enjoyed our cocktails, and the mozzarella sticks are the best I ever had period.
Celebrating Juneteenth a couple of times this upcoming week. Looking forward to it. Below are 11 event recommendations for the holiday.

p.s. None of my NYC followers want free tickets to The Bronx Book Festival this weekend?
