The Weekly: Doing Whatever
Doing the most but nothing at the same time. Summer and Zaddy Black romance reads to add to your TBR. TTT tomorrow night. Petersburg Book Fest is September 12 in the RVA.
Happy Monday!
This week’s newsletter is late, because I don’t have anything to say for real.
It’s been a chill week. This is the type of downtime I’m going to wish I had when July rolls around.
I had a great Juneteenth! I technically work the federal holiday, because one of my work clients has an annual Juneteenth Block Party at Union Market. I must show face. The event was great! I have enough footage for a vlog. Maybe I’ll make a vlog. Not now though.
I watched the Haiti vs. Brazil World Cup match from the comfort of my basement couch. I was so tired from the day’s festivities. The Haiti’s men’s team has only been to the tournamet twice, so I’m just happy to be here.
It hit home Saturday that my parents are visiting in less than a month, and my house is not together. It’s been two years since their last visit, and I have to show I’m investing in my home and not just wasting money eating, shopping and traveling!
The lowest hanging fruit right now is framing the artwork I’ve been collecting for the last 2-3 years. Frames are EXPENSIVE! It’s adding up, but hanging up some pieces would be a flashy show of making my house a home.
I purchased a new headboard and a bunch of other decorative stuff. More distractions from the hairline cracks in my ceiling! Ugh. I’m handling it.
I also started browsing for a new living room sofa. Adult wisdom: Don’t buy that $900 cutesy green velvet couch from Wayfair just because it’s $900, cute and green velvet. Not practical. Not for adult living. I’m buying a grown up couch!
This week, I’ll focus on the outdoors—new mulch and flowers in my front yard. I’m also committed to offloading clothes and shoes. If I haven’t used it in two years, it’s going in the trash or to a new home. I’m tired of stuff!
I resubscribed to Paramount+ for the first time in almost a year. I wanted to watch the first half of The Chi’s final season. Lena is just doing whatever on that show. I’m sticking beside it though. I’ve made it this far.
Have a great week!
