The first Talia’s Book Nook on Wednesday was AMAZING! Thank you to everyone who tuned in. Going live on TikTok is always a time. We talked our favorite novellas and short stories, in-person book club tips and Christian romance. I can’t wait for Natasha Bishop enters the Nook next. See below.

I started Friday evening at Cucina MORINI in Mt. Vernon Triangle for happy hour with friends. The Southern Italian restaurant has a $7 martini (like any martini) special, but it was too crowded at the bar where the special is applicable. My $20 cocktails (after tip) at the other bar were nice.

Couldn’t stay for delicious pastas I’ve previously had courtesy of DoorDash, because I had a late-night appointment at Silver Mirror Facial Bar in Navy Yard. I took y’all with me to the Penn Quarter location last year. Silver Mirror invited me to get a 50-minute facial that I desperately needed. I’ve been treating my skin so badly, so this facial signified a reset. I’m getting on my Zoom! I WILL have clear skin in 2025!

I got released from the shackles of my dry afro puff on Saturday. Thrive Hair Bar, a natural hair salon with locations in DC and Arlington, invited me to get my hair done. I only go to the salon for trims, silk presses and braids, so only getting twists felt extra. But got dammit, it was basically the most luxurious wash day I ever had. My hair has never been so soft and hydrated. And the resulting twist out was everything.

Saturday night, I road tripped to Tenleytown for the 20th annual Transformer Benefit Gala & Art Auction. I showed y’all the local art on auction last week. I haven’t been to a DC gala in years, but this one was fun, because art people are fun I like art people, but not the art person who snagged the piece I wanted. The gala vlog drops Wednesday.

Sunday was spent at home. I’m really trying to spend one weekend day at home. I can’t be out Friday, Saturday AND Sunday. For self care, absolutely not. I finally read Sinnamon & Golds, a HELLA MESSY Thanksgiving novella by Lady Marie, and took the best mid-day nap.
