The last weekend of June was great.
On Friday, my friends got married at a beautiful vineyard in Virginia. I love love!
Saturday, I had an impromptu meetup with some members of my paid Substack subscribers. I messaged out private chat and boom! It’s one of the many perks that comes with your $7/month membership. We had a great time viewing two of the Black art exhibits at the National Gallery of Art and brunching at CIRCA in Navy Yard.

This week: New Orleans and ESSENCE Fest
New Orleans is my favorite city. I was thinking about moving there in 2023. I’m staying put, but I can’t wait to touch down later this week to do (and eat all the things), hang with my girlfriends and content creator friends, and partake in this year’s ESSENCE Festival festivities. I’m definitely doing these five things:
July 10: Love Island USA Watch Party

July 25-27: The House Party Experience
Going to Charlotte for the first time for one of this year’s most anticipated Black book events! Alexandria House is bringing her St. Louis Cyclones for an all-out, All-Star weekend. I can’t wait to meet more of my favorite authors and enjoy all the themed events like the WAGS Brunch and The Dungeon.
July 30: Sundeck Summer Reads Series
The annual series is back at The Yards every Wednesday in July starting July 9. I’ll pop in a few time throughout the month, but I’ll definitely be at the last one. The books in that week’s giveaway were hand-picked by me and other DC book influencers like literallycatherine and krystallotuslang.
